Bergstrom, Sigrid Chardonnay Willamette Valley, 2023
Named for Josh Bergström's Swedish grandmother, whose grace and strength inspired three generations, the Sigrid Chardonnay is a barrel selection from the family's biodynamic estate vineyards across Dundee Hills, Ribbon Ridge, and Chehalem Mountains. The Bergströms have farmed biodynamically for over twenty-five years—Josh trained in Beaune, where he met his Burgundian wife Caroline—and each vineyard is hand-harvested and fermented separately in French oak before eighteen months of sur lie aging. Only the finest barrels make the final blend. The 2023 is opulent yet precise: lemon meringue, flinty minerality, marzipan creaminess, and a long finish of honeysuckle balanced by a defined spine of acidity.
