Can Sumoi, Xarel-lo, 2024

Pepe Raventós i Blanc launched Can Sumoi as a project dedicated to Penedès's indigenous grape varieties — Xarel·lo, Sumoll, Garnatxa Blanca — farmed naturally and vinified with minimal intervention. Xarel·lo is Penedès's most interesting white grape: aromatic, textured, and capable of real complexity when farmed seriously and not over-cropped. The 2024 is immediate and honest — bright, herb-driven, mineral, and very much its own thing. Natural Penedès from one of Catalonia's most thoughtful producers.
