Channing Daughters, Ribolla Gialla, 2021

Channing Daughters is a winery in Bridgehampton on Long Island's South Fork, founded in 1982 by Walter Channing. The estate is now run by winemaker Christopher Tracy, who joined in 2002 and has become known for experimental winemaking including skin-contact whites, pétillant naturels, and unusual grape varieties. The winery farms approximately 28 acres and works with Italian and other unusual varieties alongside traditional vinifera. Ribolla Gialla is an ancient white grape from Friuli, and Channing Daughters was among the first to plant it on Long Island. This version sees extended skin contact in the Friulian orange wine tradition. Wild fermented, aged in neutral oak, bottled unfined and unfiltered.
