Chateau Les Ormes-de-Pez, Saint-Estephe, 2015

The same Cazes-family Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel from Saint-Estèphe — same vineyard, same hand, very different year. Where 2012 was supple and short-cycle, 2015 was one of the warmer, more concentrated recent Bordeaux vintages, producing wines with deeper fruit, more structure, and longer aging arcs. This bottling (Cabernet Sauvignon-led with Merlot, Cab Franc, and a splash of Petit Verdot, raised in seasoned Lynch-Bages barrels) is currently drinking well and will hold comfortably for another decade. Saint-Estèphe's iron-and-gravel signature is firmly in place — dark fruit ripe but not jammy, tannins still present but finely woven, with the savory, slightly austere finish that makes this commune such a satisfying claret partner at the table.
