Chateau Potensac, Medoc, 2010
Owned by the Delon family of Léoville Las Cases fame, Château Potensac is a serious overachiever in the Médoc appellation—combining careful farming, traditional vinification, and excellent terroir just north of Saint-Estèphe.
The 2010 vintage was one of Bordeaux’s finest in the 21st century, producing wines with deep fruit, firm tannins, and incredible longevity. Potensac’s 2010 reflects that beautifully: aromas of blackcurrant, cedar, graphite, dried herbs, and leather, with a palate that’s still structured but fully knit together. There’s great clarity and lift, with bright acidity and a long, mineral finish.
This is true classic Bordeaux—meant for a proper meal, ideally roast lamb or beef, but also enjoyable on its own after a short decant. It’s proof that you don’t need to break the bank for aged, cellar-worthy Left Bank Bordeaux with pedigree and soul.
