Chiara Condello, Le Lucciole Romagna Sangiovese Predappio Riserva, 2022 (1.5L)

A magnum of the flagship. Le Lucciole, the fireflies, is Chiara Condello's single-vineyard Riserva from a 0.8-hectare parcel in the heart of Predappio, the most respected sub-zone of Romagna. The vines, planted at 250 meters on spungone-rich clay-limestone soils, are farmed biodynamically. Fermentation is spontaneous, maceration lasts 45 days, and the wine ages two years in used Slavonian botti before a further year in bottle. In the larger 1.5L format, the wine evolves more slowly and gracefully, rewarding patient cellaring. This is the wine that has helped place Romagna Sangiovese in the same conversation as top Chianti Classico, now in a format built for celebrations and long horizons.
