Domaine Andre et Mireille Tissot (Benedicte et Stephane Tissot), Cotes du Jura 'La Vie en Rose', 2024
Stephane and Benedicte Tissot run the benchmark biodynamic estate of the Jura - and La Vie en Rose is one of their most unusual bottlings. Despite the name, this is not a rose. It's a co-planted, co-fermented white from the En Barberon parcel in the Cotes du Jura, made from an extraordinary jumble of old grape varieties: Poulsard Blanc, Poulsard Rose, Poulsard Rouge, Beclan Blanc, Chardonnay Rose, Savagnin Blanc, Savagnin Rose, and Savagnin Rose Aromatique. Hand-harvested, direct-pressed, wild-fermented, and aged a year in 228- and 500-liter barrels. The wine is an act of preservation - a living archive of Jura's genetic past - and it tastes like nothing else you'll open this month.
