“Pure” comes from a tiny plot of century-old Grenache vines on sandy soils in the northern sector of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Instead, it’s layered, aromatic, and quietly powerful, with incredible finesse.
The 2021 vintage, cooler and lower in yields than many recent years, highlights all of that restraint and elegance. Expect aromas of wild strawberry, dried rose petal, white pepper, and garrigue, with a palate that’s both expansive and lacy. Silky tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, stony finish make this feel almost like Grand Cru Pinot Noir in a Grenache suit.
