En la Rue de Vergy sits high on the Morey slope just above Clos de Tart, where the topsoil thins to nothing and the limestone bedrock pushes up to the surface — closer in character to the highest Chambolle parcels than to most village Morey. Virgile Lignier farms his two hectares (planted in 1974) organically and treats the wine like a 1er Cru — 50-70% whole cluster, gentle vinification, longer élevage. The 2021 vintage was cool and classical, the kind of year this site loves. Five years on, it's starting to show its mineral, slightly austere depth — but a few more in the cellar will pay off.
