Fontaine-Gagnard, Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot, 2024
Morgeot is the structured one. At the southern end of Chassagne, with a historic terroir centered on La Grande Borne, it gives a Chardonnay with more power and length than most of the village's 1er Crus — Fontaine-Gagnard's Morgeot is built to age fifteen to twenty years in a top vintage. The 2024 is white (the domaine bottles both colors here), and Céline Fontaine's hand is unmistakable: orchard fruit and citrus on the nose, depth and grip on the palate, the new-oak portion folded cleanly into the wine. A serious 1er Cru white for the cellar — give it a few years, or pull it early with a substantial meal.
