Gunther Steinmetz, Riesling Kabinett Wintricher Grosser Herrgott, 2024 [Pre-Arrival ETA 7/15]

This is the Mosel doing what it does better than anywhere on earth: a featherlight, low-alcohol Kabinett that hums with tension. The Grosser Herrgott is a steep slate slope in Wintrich, sitting right beside the famed Ohligsberg and sharing its purple-slate-and-quartzite terroir. In the classic fruity-Kabinett style, this is gently off-dry, its touch of sweetness stretched taut over racy acidity so it drinks lighter than it sounds. At around seven and a half percent alcohol, it's the kind of bottle you can open on a Tuesday and still be thinking about on Wednesday. Pure, joyful, thirst-quenching Mosel Riesling.
