Koehler-Ruprecht, Pinot Noir Kabinett Trocken, 2024 [Pre-Arrival ETA 7/15]
Founded centuries ago in Kallstadt, Koehler-Ruprecht is one of the Pfalz's oldest estates and a founding father of the dry, cellarable German Pinot Noir movement. The fruit comes off light, sandy Kallstadt soils and is spontaneously fermented in traditional wooden barrels, the old-school way. The 'Kabinett Trocken' designation marries Germany's historic ripeness tier with bone-dry vinification, producing a wine that is light-bodied and juicy but layered with complexity: red cherry, basil, wineberry, and forest floor, with racy acidity and a hint of green walnut on the finish. There's barely a trace of evident oak—just pale, nervy, cool-climate Pinot built for the table. Serve it at cellar temperature.
