Lorenzo Accomasso, Barolo Riserva Vigna Rocchette, 2011
A Riserva from one of La Morra's last hermit traditionalists, drawn from a coveted old-vine block within Rocche dell'Annunziata. Lorenzo Accomasso, who passed in August 2025 at 91, worked alongside his sister Elena in a tiny cellar where wines aged years in 50hl Slavonian botti with no fining and barely a whisper of sulfur. Vigna Rocchette is the cru-within-the-cru: medium clay, southern exposure, ancient vines. The 2011 vintage brought warmth and depth; an additional five years of cellar aging earned the Riserva tier. Fourteen years on, this is still a young Accomasso Riserva by the estate's slow-burning standards, opening into the layered, perfumed La Morra style for which Lorenzo became legend.
