Lorenzo Accomasso, Barolo Vigna Rocchette, 2012
The standard-tier bottling from Lorenzo Accomasso's most prized parcel, a sub-cru within Rocche dell'Annunziata in La Morra. Lorenzo, who died in August 2025 at 91, was a true hermit-traditionalist of Barolo's old guard, working alongside his sister Elena on three precious hectares with concrete fermenters, decades-old Slavonian botti, and no concessions to fashion. Vigna Rocchette sits on medium clay with southern exposure, planted to old vines that yield tiny quantities of fragrant, structured Nebbiolo. The 2012 vintage was small and concentrated, producing wines of unusual density for La Morra. Thirteen years on, this bottling is moving from primary into its mature, perfumed phase, all rose, tar, and orange-rind savor.
