Lorenzo Accomasso, Dolcetto d'Alba, 2020

Dolcetto is the wine the Langhe drinks at lunch, and Lorenzo Accomasso made one of the most quietly compelling versions in La Morra. Even on this humble grape, his approach didn't change: hands-off in the vineyard, slow ferments, no intervention in the cellar — Dolcetto as it would have tasted in the 1960s, when his small estate first started bottling. The 2020 came from a warm, balanced vintage that gave the wine plenty of fruit without sacrificing its grippy, savory edge. With Lorenzo's passing in August 2025 at 91, even his Dolcetto has become a memento — a daily-drinking wine from a man whose Barolos collectors hunt for years.
