Wachter Wiesler, Blaufrankisch Eisenberg Deutsch Schutzen, 2021 [Pre-Arrival ETA 7/15]
A village bottling that captures Deutsch Schützen, the commune sitting just off the Eisenberg hill. The soils here have the same green schist in the subsoil but a deeper layer of clay and loam on top, which softens the tannins and opens up the fruit — Christoph Wachter draws this cuvée from his two Deutsch Schützen sites, Ratschen and Weinberg. The result is the darker, spicier, plusher side of Eisenberg without losing the iron-slate savor that defines the region. It's the middle ground in the lineup: more specific than the estate's regional blend, less pinpointed than a single vineyard. From the bolder 2021 vintage. Pre-Arrival, arriving mid-July.
