The Eisenberg bottling is Christoph Wachter's core expression of the appellation, drawn from a mix of sites on the iron-rich green shale that gives the region its name and its signature. Eisenberg means "iron mountain" — there have been iron mines here since antiquity — and you taste it: pure black and blue fruit that never tips into overripe, always laced with acidity and that unmistakable ferrous minerality. Native-yeast fermented and aged in large neutral barrels, it's the most representative iron-slate signature in the lineup and the ideal introduction to why these cool-climate reds are so distinctive.
