Walter Scott, Chardonnay La Combe Verte, 2024
Walter Scott's gateway Chardonnay — and a steal. Ken Pahlow and Erica Landon launched the label out of Patricia Green Cellars in 2008, and they've spent the last decade and a half quietly becoming one of the most respected Burgundian-style addresses in the Willamette Valley. La Combe Verte — "the green valley" — is the appellation-level cuvée, a multi-vineyard blend that pulls together the volcanic snap of their Eola-Amity Hills sites, the old-vine depth of Hyland Vineyard, and the marine-sedimentary power of Freedom Hill. Native-yeast fermented, full malolactic, raised in large barrel with very little bâtonnage. The 2024 is fresh, focused, and ready now.
