Armand Heitz, Bourgogne Rouge, 2023
Armand Heitz took over his family's Chassagne-Montrachet estate in 2011 and converted it to biodynamic farming, building a 250-hectare project across the Cote d'Or and Beaujolais. This regional Bourgogne Rouge is his calling card for value, sourced from clay-silt soils over marl and made in a traditional, low-oak style (usually only 20 to 25% new) so the Pinot fruit stays front and center. The 2023 vintage was generous and ripe, making for an easygoing, fruit-forward red. A great house-Pinot for a weeknight from a serious young grower.
