Bernard Baudry is Chinon's greatest domaine, now run by Bernard's son Mathieu, and Les Grezeaux comes from the very first plot of vines Bernard bought back in 1975. The soils here are gravelly, just a stone's throw from the cellar, and they give a Cabernet Franc that's the juicier, more mineral of Baudry's middle cuvees. Organic farming, native-yeast fermentation, hand harvesting, the whole nine yards. The beauty of Grezeaux is its versatility: chill it down and drink it solo, or pour it alongside red meat, because it has the structure to back that up. It ages too, but you don't have to wait.
