A screaming-good-deal Spanish white from a producer doing exciting things in Verdejo country. Cantalapiedra Viticultores farms organically in La Seca, the heart of Rueda, where Manuel Cantalapiedra (a classically trained pianist) took the lead in 2014. Working old parcels dry-farmed and without irrigation, he ferments with wild yeasts, minimal sulfur, and nothing else added. Chiviritero is 100% Verdejo from a small old-vine parcel and shows just how much energy and verve this estate can coax from Castilian soil. A fresh, expressive young wine to drink over the next few years.
