Cellier Saint Benoit, Arbois-Pupillin 'Courbes Raies' Chardonnay, 2023
Benjamin Benoit returned home in 2019 following his father's passing, achieving full control in 2020 and releasing his first vintage. Training with Burgundian masters—Charles Lachaux, Amélie Berthaut, and Nicolas Faure—shaped a philosophy of expressing each vineyard site separately. Courbes Raies, a 0.5-hectare parcel on fossil-rich limestone at 408m altitude with old vines, is vinified to show its character: structured, mineral Jura Chardonnay from Lower Liassic fossilized mollusk-bearing soils. This is complex winemaking applied to humble appellation—a statement of intention from a serious young producer.
