Chartogne-Taillet, Champagne Le Rose, NV
Alexandre Chartogne, one of Champagne's rising stars, inherited over 300 years of family tradition in Merfy (Montagne de Reims) and studied under Anselme Selosse. Le Rosé blends 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir (with 8% vin rouge for color), fermented spontaneously in 228 and 350-liter oak casks—no added yeast or bacteria. The result is a rosé Champagne with striking depth: bright red berries, blood orange, mint, and rosewater on an unusually broad, powerful palate. Golden peach hues give way to coppery flames; the finish echoes sour cherry and rhubarb.
