Chateau la Canorgue, Luberon Rouge, 2023

An organic and biodynamic Luberon red from the storybook estate below the perched village of Bonnieux, run for generations by the Margan family (film buffs may recognize the chateau itself). The Luberon Rouge is a Syrah-led blend with Grenache off terraced vineyards of thirty-plus-year-old vines, full of the dark, spicy, herb-scented character of the southern Rhone's cooler edge. This is the fresh, young 2023, made for early, easygoing drinking rather than the cellar. A friendly, food-loving everyday red with real sense of place.
