One of the Medoc's great values, a Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel that punches well above its appellation. Chateau Poujeaux farms the gravelly soils of Grand Poujeaux in Moulis-en-Medoc, making a structured, Cabernet Sauvignon-led Bordeaux (with Merlot, plus a touch of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc) aged in French oak. The 2016 is a celebrated, age-worthy Left Bank vintage, and this bottle is still firmly built and youthful. Decant now for current drinking, or lay it down a few more years. Classic, dependable claret with real Medoc backbone.
