Corison (Corazon), Gewurztraminer 'Moon Mountain', 2024
Cathy Corison is one of Napa Valley's most respected and pioneering winemakers, who founded her eponymous winery in 1987 after facing significant obstacles due to industry sexism in the 1970s. Named San Francisco Chronicle Winemaker of the Year in 2011, she's known for elegant, balanced wines with moderate alcohol and softer tannins—a style she maintained even when critics favored bigger, riper wines. Corazon ("heart" in Spanish, a play on her name) is her label for wines outside her main Cabernet focus. This Gewurztraminer comes from 60-year-old dry-farmed vines on Moon Mountain in Sonoma, made in a bone-dry, Alsatian style. Tropical fruit on the nose (almost like a tiki cocktail), melon and guava on the palate, with a lightly creamy texture and mouthwatering acidity. Perfect with spicy cuisine or seafood curry.Aromatic Gewurz from Moon Mountain. Rose petal, lychee, ginger. Dry with balanced acidity. Pairs with spicy dishes.
