Corte Bravi, Valpolicella Classico Superiore, 2022
Corte Bravi's step up from the Classico, with three years now behind it. The Brunelli brothers' Superiore is a hand-harvested blend of Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, and a slice of Oseleta, cold-fermented and then warmed through an extended maceration to coax tannin and aromatic depth out of the skins. Half ages in French oak, half in steel, before being reunited for a final year of bottle rest. The result is a Valpolicella that drinks with more weight and spice than the Classico without sliding into Amarone territory. Organic farming since 2015, Vinnatur member since 2019, native yeast fermentation throughout. The 2022, drinking well now, is the kind of mid-weight Italian red that disappears at any table where food is being passed around.
