Division, Gamay Lutte Willamette Valley, 2023

Division named this Gamay 'Lutte,' the fight, for their ongoing campaign to prove Oregon can make serious Gamay, and this bottling makes the case. Grown in the Willamette Valley from biodynamically farmed sites, it's fermented with native yeasts, partly by carbonic maceration, then aged in a mix of stainless, concrete, and neutral oak to keep everything fresh and unadorned. The result is light, peppery, and mineral, closer in spirit to a good cru Beaujolais than to Oregon Pinot. Serve it with a chill and drink it young while it's bursting with energy. An easy, joyful pour that punches above its weight.
