Equilibre — balance — was the wine Jean-Philippe Agisson launched his label with in 2017, and it remains the heart of his tiny 1.5-hectare estate. Before going on his own, Agisson spent a decade as cellar master for Alphonse Mellot at Domaine de la Moussiere in Sancerre, then was tapped by Louis-Benjamin Dagueneau to run the cellar at the famed Didier Dagueneau estate — the resume reads like a love letter to the Central Loire. The fruit comes from a single hectare of Kimmeridgian marl, farmed organically with biodynamic practices, hand-harvested, direct-pressed and aged on lees in older barrels. The wine lives up to its name: ripe Sauvignon fruit framed by chalky cut, lees-driven texture and gentle stone-fruit generosity, all without a hint of heaviness. Sancerre with serious pedigree behind it.
