Domaine Clos de la Chapelle, Meursault Cuvee Confluence, 2023
Clos de la Chapelle is the small Volnay-based domaine that American expat Mark O'Connell launched in 2011 with partners Philippe Remoissenet and Pierre Meurgey, taking its name from the tiny chapel-side monopole at its heart. The estate works organically and biodynamically across about five hectares of mostly 1er Cru and Grand Cru parcels in the Cote de Beaune; this village Meursault, the Cuvee Confluence, is built from a blend of estate parcels and serves as the domaine's everyday white. The 2023 vintage delivers what Meursault drinkers actually want: ripe orchard fruit, a touch of hazelnut, gentle oak, and a saline, citrus-edged finish. Drink now with a little air, or hold for a few years to let the textural side fill in.
