Domaine Cottenceau, Montagny "Les Dazes", 2022
First-generation Burgundy from a Dureuil-Janthial protégé—Maxime Cottenceau trained with one of the Côte Chalonnaise's finest winemakers before taking over his family's vineyards in 2018. Les Dazes comes from deep clay soils with Muscat selections of Chardonnay on 200-million-year-old Jurassic limestone (the same Kimmeridgian found in Chablis). Converting to organic since 2020. Hand-picked, wild fermented, 18-20 months in barrel with extended lees aging. The 2022 shows the vintage's depth and ripeness with excellent acidity. Natural winemaking in undervalued Burgundy terroir.6th-generation Côte-Rôtie (since 1807). 60° slopes, Syrah/Viognier co-fermented. Violet, berries, herbs—silky, long tannins. Age or enjoy now.
