Domaine des Chasseignes, Sancerre Les Chasseignes, 2021

The 2021 vintage tested every winemaker—frost and mildew cut yields to half normal—but Les Chasseignes emerges with the finesse that defines great Sancerre. Aurore Dezat, now in her fourth generation, took over in 2011 and converted to organic in 2020, bringing a lighter touch to this limestone-terroir wine. The vineyard sits on two distinct soils: "caillottes" (limestone pebbles) and Terres Blanches (Kimmeridgian clay), creating a wine with real tension and delicate structure. Manual harvest and pneumatic pressing preserve the fruit's purity. This is a year that showcases precision over power.
