Domaine Du Fables, Gamabumba, 2023

Domaine des Fables is the project of Francois Gilles, who farms just four hectares of steep Alpine slopes in the Chautagne corner of Savoie, near the Rhone and Lac du Bourget, just south of Geneva. He works organically and biodynamically, chasing balance and biodiversity, and the wines have the wild, fresh-mountain energy you'd hope for. Gamabumba is his juicy, fruit-forward Gamay, a playful red made for pure drinking pleasure. Expect bright crunchy berries, a little Alpine herb and pepper, and the kind of zippy freshness that practically begs for a slight chill. This is natural-leaning, high-altitude joy in a bottle. Adventure wine from a tiny producer worth seeking out.
