Domaine du Tunnel takes its name literally — Stéphane Robert ages his wines inside a 170-meter former railway tunnel bored through the Ardèche, where constant temperature and humidity do the work a cellar can't. His Saint-Joseph is pure northern Rhône Syrah grown on the appellation's granite slopes, and his style is all about precision: mostly destemmed with a touch of whole cluster, no heavy extraction, and neutral oak that keeps the fruit and terroir front and center. 2022 was a warm, generous vintage, giving this wine plump dark fruit and silky tannins while granite keeps it fresh and lifted.
