Domaine Dujac, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru, 2023
Thin topsoil over massive limestone boulders—this is the terroir that gives Clos de la Roche its name and its power. At approximately 16 hectares, it is the largest Grand Cru in Morey-Saint-Denis, and Domaine Dujac—holding 1.95 hectares across six parcels—has been one of its defining voices since Jacques Seysses founded the estate in 1968. Now led by sons Jeremy and Alec with Diana Snowden Seysses, the domaine farms organically and biodynamically, employing predominantly whole-cluster fermentation and thoughtful oak management that allows the vineyard’s mineral intensity to dominate. The 2023 is fresh and energetic—a vintage of excellent balance without overripeness—showing red plum, redcurrant, and rose petal with plush tannins and crystalline precision. Built for decades of evolution, expect this to reveal its full complexity between 2035 and 2050.
