Domaine Gramenon, Cotes du Rhone La Sagesse, 2024
Few estates tell the story of natural-wine Rhône like Gramenon. Founded by the late Philippe Laurent and now run by his widow Michèle Aubéry-Laurent with their son Maxime, the domaine farms biodynamically, ferments with native yeast, and bottles with barely a whisper of sulfur. "La Sagesse" — "wisdom" — is the cuvée that earns the name: old-vine Grenache from parcels 50 to 70 years old, drawing fleshiness from clay, lift from sand, and a salty finish from rocky limestone. Partial destemming, cement fermentation, twelve months in old barriques. The result is everything we love about Grenache — succulent, peppery, wild — on a frame that feels graceful rather than heavy. A pioneer's wine, in every vintage.
