Domaine Ilarria, Irouleguy Blanc, 2023
Irouléguy is France's Basque Country wine—one of the smallest and most dramatic appellations in the country, with vines clinging to Pyrenean slopes so steep that all work must be done by hand. Peio Espil was the first independent winegrower in the appellation, breaking away from the cooperative that still dominates production. This blanc is a 50/50 blend of Petit Manseng and Petit Courbu, organic and fermented with native yeasts, delivering citrus, white flowers, and a bracing mountain minerality. A genuine discovery from a place most wine lovers have never heard of.
