Domaine Rolet, Arbois Trousseau, 2023

The boldest of Jura's three native reds, bottled solo. Trousseau is the most powerful and structured of the trio (Poulsard and Pinot Noir being its lighter siblings), and Domaine Rolet — founded in 1942 in Arbois and now under Devillard/Dupuis/Flambert ownership — handles it with the confidence of a family that has been farming these slopes for generations. Sourced from older Trousseau vines in Arbois, fermented with native yeast and whole clusters, then aged in large old foudres. The result is a deeply Jura red — dark wild berries and tart cherry, white pepper and forest underbrush, framed by lively acidity and fine, almost crunchy tannins. A Jura red with backbone but never weight.
