Domaine Roulot, Meursault Villages, 2017
Jean-Marc Roulot, one of Burgundy's superstars since taking over the family estate (farmed organically since 1989, certified in 2013) in 1989, crafts this medium to full-bodied village Meursault with remarkable elegance and precision. A blend of several prime parcels including Clos de la Baronne, this wine is satiny-textured and gourmand, more open-knit than Roulot's premier crus. The nose shows gently sun-kissed scents of Asian pear, white flowers, and honeycomb, with secondary notes of hazelnut, apple, citrus, and acacia blossom. The 2017 vintage is widely considered exemplary for the domaine's focused, mineral approach to Meursault.
