Domaine Santa Duc, Cotes du Rhone Les Quatre Terre, 2024
Santa Duc's "Four Soils" Côtes du Rhône — and a quietly serious answer to the question of what a thinking person drinks on a Tuesday. Benjamin Gras assembles the blend from parcels across four communes: Vacqueyras, Rasteau, Roaix, and Séguret, each contributing a different soil signature (sandy slopes, broken stone, alluvial clay, red limestone) to a Grenache-led red that punches well above its appellation. Foudre élevage in the cellar keeps the fruit lifted; the result is a CDR with the floral character of red Grenache, savory garrigue from the wild Rhône hills, and a long, mineral close. 2024 is a fresh, energetic vintage in the south. Pour it with anything off a grill.
