Domaines Ott, Chateau de Selle Cotes de Provence Rose, 2025
Domaines Ott practically invented serious Provencal rose. Founded in 1912 by Marcel Ott, the house pioneered pale, dry rose as a wine worth taking seriously, and Chateau de Selle was its very first estate, a rocky slope of clay and limestone in Taradeau. The instantly-recognizable curvy bottle is part of the legend. Inside is rose at its most elegant and structured: pale, dry, and built with the depth and length of a proper white wine rather than a poolside afterthought. Beautiful now, and with the substance to hold for a year or two. The benchmark by which other Provence roses are still measured.
