Francois Chidaine, Chenin d'Ici Vin de France, 2024
François Chidaine is the benchmark Chenin Blanc producer of the Loire — biodynamic across Montlouis (his home appellation) and Vouvray, on tuffeau limestone, flint, and clay. Chenin d'Ici, "Chenin from here," came about when Chidaine secured small parcels from friends across Touraine to supplement his own fruit. Because the bottling blends Montlouis and Vouvray (which can't legally be co-labeled under AOC rules), it's declassified to Vin de France — a technicality that brings a serious, terroir-driven Chenin within reach. The 2024 captures the house signature: pure, dry, beautifully cut, with the orchard fruit and chalk-pure minerality that has made Chidaine one of France's most acclaimed white winemakers.
