John Williams founded Frog's Leap in 1981 with 450 cases of Sauvignon Blanc after training under Warren Winiarski and André Tchelistcheff at Stag's Leap Wine Cellars. The first Napa Valley winery to achieve CCOF organic certification (1989). Estate vineyards are 100% dry-farmed; the winery runs on solar power. Williams pioneered concrete egg fermentation for Sauvignon Blanc starting in 1990—currently using nine 500-gallon eggs. The "Soil Selection" assembles the best lots from exceptional terroir.
