Priorat Garnatxa from a biologist who came home to farm her grandfather's vines. Gemma Miró trained as a biologist before walking away from the lab in 2020 to rescue her family's tiny plot in Falset, in southern Priorat. Les Agulles — "the needles" — is a tribute to her grandmother Mariona, the village seamstress. The fruit comes from the Les Pinyanes estate: 45-year-old organically farmed Garnatxa vines on granitic soils threaded with clay and slate. Whole-cluster fermentation in stainless and an old barrel, seven months on its lees, unfined and unfiltered. The result is Priorat with its volume turned down — perfumed, vibrant, transparent to the schist rather than blanketed in oak. A new-wave voice from one of Spain's most storied regions.
