Les Cazetiers is one of Gevrey-Chambertin's truly great premier crus, sitting on the same hillside as legendary Clos Saint-Jacques but warmer, better-drained, and a touch more generous in its youth. The vineyard climbs to nearly 370 meters on rocky clay and decomposed white marl, giving wines with real concentration and a black-fruited, structured profile. Drouhin has spent decades thinking of itself less as a negociant and more as a top domaine, and their organically and biodynamically farmed Burgundies bear that out. The 2019 vintage delivered ripe, deeply flavored reds with the structure to age. This is serious Gevrey from a serious site; give it time in the cellar or a good long decant.
