Luis Rodriguez Vazquez is the hero of Ribeiro, the Galician region near Portugal where since 1988 he's revived nearly extinct native grapes one by one. A Torna dos Pasas is his crunchy, fresh red, a blend of native varieties like Caino, Brancellao and Ferrol off steep granite hillsides in Arnoia, fermented spontaneously and raised in used oak. It's the more immediate, juicy expression of his red work, all bright fruit and granite tension. Serve with a slight chill if you like. Drink now or over the next few years.
