Luis Rodriguez, Vina de Martin Os Pasas, 2023
Ribeiro has historically been home to some of Spain's greatest wines, and Luis Rodriguez is the man who keeps that flame lit. Working his hometown of Arnoia in Galicia, he farms nearly 180 micro-parcels of southwest-facing granite scattered across barely six hectares, all planted to native grapes. Os Pasas is his benchmark white: mostly Treixadura rounded out with Lado, Albarino and Torrontes, fermented on native yeasts in steel and rested on its lees for the better part of a year. The granite shows up as salinity and cut; the indigenous grapes bring a gentle, almost wild aromatic lift. This is the kind of distinctive, terroir-driven Atlantic white that rewards anyone willing to look past the usual Galician names.
