Matassa, VdF Blanc Cuvee Marguerite, 2025
Tom Lubbe came to Roussillon for an internship at Domaine Gauby and stayed, founding Matassa in 2003 and helping prove that this mountainous land above the Mediterranean could make some of Europe's most thrilling low-intervention wine. Cuvee Marguerite, named for the grandmother of Tom's wife, is his aromatic skin-contact white, a blend of Macabeu and Muscat (both Petits Grains and d'Alexandrie). Old vines, organic and biodynamic farming, neutral barrels, and minimal sulfur let the grapes' natural perfume sing. Expect something vibrant and a little wild, the kind of wine that rewards curiosity. Pre-arrival.
