Tom Lubbe came to Roussillon for an internship at Domaine Gauby and stayed, founding Matassa in 2003 and turning this rugged southern corner into one of Europe's most exciting low-intervention regions. Tommy Ferriol is one of the estate's wilder reds, drawing on Syrah and Muscat from vineyards around the Mas Ferriol high above the Mediterranean. Organic and biodynamic farming, short maceration, neutral barrels, and minimal sulfur make for a wine that's vibrant, savory, and ephemeral. This is natural wine with real terroir behind it.
