Matthieu Barret, Cotes du Rhone Petit Ours, 2024 (Pre-sale, wine arrives 7/16/26)

Petit Ours, the Little Bear, is Matthieu Barret's nickname, and his easygoing everyday red, capturing his friendly nature perfectly. Barret is best known for his serious biodynamic Cornas, but this Cotes du Rhone shows the same clean, mineral hand in a bottle made for immediate pleasure. The Syrah comes from younger vines on clay and limestone in Visan, farmed biodynamically and fermented in concrete tanks with native yeasts (de-stemmed grapes), not a semi-carbonic method to lock in freshness and juicy fruit. In the cool 2024 vintage it lands light, floral and thirst-quenching, the kind of wine that disappears fast on a weeknight. Give it a slight chill and pour freely.
